POLICE netted drugs and cash believed to be worth more than £250,000 after swooping on a house in Blackburn.

Detectives seized a large amount of heroin and cash after carrying out a raid on a house in the Whalley Old Road area of Little Harwood yesterday.

Two men and two women have been arrested and were due to be questioned at Blackburn police station today.

The four people arrested are all from the Blackburn area and are in their 30s and 40s.

Police said they searched the house and seized a six-figure sum of cash. Detectives are still counting the money but it is believed at least £150,000 was found at the house.

Officers said a large quantity of heroin was also found at the property and has been taken to police headquarters for forensic examination.

Depending on the strength and purity of the drug the heroin could have a street value of anything between £25,000 and £75,000.

Detective Inspector Tim Jacques, of Blackburn CID, helped organise the operation.

He said: "Acting on intelligence we acted on a search warrant for an address on a house in Blackburn.

"As a result a large amount of cash and heroin was recovered and four people were arrested."

He added: "Natuarlly we are very pleased to have seized such a large amount of heroin from the property.

"There is no doubt that this heroin was destined for the streets of Blackburn and East Lancashire."
