DO you remember when the River Ribble froze over? Perhaps that's you on the bike there?
It's events like this, pictured, which make Preston's history so fascinating, and what better time to look back on our heritage than at the turn of the Millennium?
To celebrate this calendar landmark, the Harris Museum and Art Gallery is putting together an exhibition of photographs of the town.
Louise Connell, keeper of social history at the Harris, explained: "It's very much in its early stages at the moment.
"We are looking for pictures that deal with events that have shaped the century."
The exhibition, called A Century To Remember, will run from May 8, this year, to September 8, 2000.
It will comprise five images from each decade, starting with 1900-1910, and each picture will be selected by local people.
Louise went on: "A lot of people who remember the early part of the century have died now so it will be more difficult covering that period.
"Of course as we get nearer the present, there are so many photos around."
If you have photos from the past and would like to see them in this momentous exhibition, then contact Louise on 01772-905406.
And as a preview of the kinds of photos likely to be included in this exhibition, check out our new Readers Recollections column. Each week we will print a photo from a reader's album and with the story of their recollections of the past.
