THERE is a strong East Lancashire presence in the first Lancashire Cricket Board squad.
The side, captained by Chorley's Roland Horridge, take on a Lancashire second XI at Old Trafford tomorrow.
And the squad will compete in the Nat West Trophy as well as two structured ECB competitions.
One is a 38 county one-day knock-out competition, including the minor counties, and the other is a two-day knockout competition for Board XIs.
Blackburn Northern professional Mark Lomas, former Haslingden all-rounder Steve Dearden, Enfield stumper Russell Edmonds and Padiham quickie Sean Rashid make up the East Lancs contingent tomorrow.
But Earby pro Jon Harvey is also a prominent member of the squad, along with David Snellgrove (Ormskirk) and Richard Ellwood (Kendal). Other winter triallists are expected to feature during a gruelling summer programme.
The team for Saturday is: Horridge, Lomas, Dearden, Steve O'Shaughnessy (Denton), David White (Kearsley), Darren Foy (Kearsley), Edmonds, Rashid, Eyre (Glossop), Matthew Parkinson (Farnworth), David Heyes (Sefton). 12th man: Chris Harrison (Lytham)
Squad members Paul Green (Roe Green) and Jason Whittaker (Darcy Leaver) will play for Lancashire Seconds.
