THE BILL for removing hazardous waste from a quarry at Pendle that businessman Michael Kokocinski turned into an illegal tip could run to a staggering £3 million, we are told today.
Kokocinski was jailed earlier this year for what he did. But is it fair if the huge cost of his crime comes out of the public's pocket?
Hardly. And though we hear that this polluter has lost everything, council and environmental officials should make sure that very last penny that he can pay towards the clean-up is got from him. Otherwise, justice will have been polluted by him too.
