FYLDE teams have the edge in the Lancashire small table "ten reds" snooker championship quarter-finals with three home ties.
This is the line-up:
Cherry Tree CC (Blackburn) v Top Break (Burnley). Cherry Tree lost in the semi-finals last year but they will have their work cut out to hold the strong Burnley club side who are led by professional Glen Stevenson.
Falcon (Poulton) v Hoddlesden Con (Darwen) looks another home win. The Falcon team won the championship last season as Durban Hotel (Cleveleys) but John Harrop will inspire the Con lads.
Highfield (Blackpool) v Star Cycling (Nelson). The Nelson lads always promise more than they deliver in this event but they should win this comfortably against the quarter-finals outsiders and it could be their season.
Layton No 3 (Blackpool) v Alexandra SC (Nelson). Don't let the No 3 fool you. This is a red-hot outfit and although Keith Ormerod's Alexandra squad will put up a determined fight it looks a narrow home win.
Closing date for the round is May 2 and the semi-finals will be at Claremont Conservative Club, Blackpool, on Monday and Tuesday, May 10 and 11, with the final of the Thursday of that week.
