Chorley 2 Lancaster 0 NEW boss Tony Hesketh will be hoping luck will return to his side, as well as several first teamers like keeper Mark Thornley, ahead of Saturday's game at Guiseley.
Including used substitutes half Lancaster City's team were local lads and they certainly played with pride.
But still the Blues trudged off the pitch wondering how they could have lost to the second from bottom club who ended up with ten men and a defender in goal. The home side named Matthew Harmer as keeper in place of injured Simon Marsh. City also had defender Jimmy Graham in nets when he replaced Mark Thornley who injured his shoulder after a clash with Eddie Hussin. The Chorley sending off made only made the defeat seem worse. Stuart Gelling was abused by the Victory Park crowd after he fell to the floor although Gary Thomas clearly struck him on the face in front of the referee at the end of the first half.
Chorley went ahead through a penalty after Jamie Udall was judged to have fouled Paul Higginbotham in the box. They made it two just before the break when Tony Carroll hit a half volley which gave Graham no chance.
Still Lancaster must have fancied their chances of winning the match after a number of attempts in a bad tempered second half. They dominated as Chorley sat back but failed to carve out any clear cut chances.
