RECORD breaker Pete Williams is heading for his latest challenge.
Pete, from Culcheth, once one of Europe's top three two-wheel sprinters who has turned to jet power in his land speed record quest, is taking Warrington Borough Council to court.
Six years ago Pete, of Churchill Avenue, was summoned to appear before magistrates for a £1,200 rates bill - which he always claimed was not his.
After spending £800 on fees he sent his solicitor packing, defended himself in court and won!
Now he has taken out a County Court summons against Warrington Council and certain officers.
He is suing for a minimum of £5,000 damages alleging their actions were unjust and caused him stress, loss of earnings and loss of time on his land speed record project and drag racing activities.
Again he'll be defending himself at the hearing, for which five days have been set aside, starting on September 20, at Warrington Law Courts.
In spite of suffering a heart attack last year Pete has returned to racing. He still competes on his double-engined Triumph 'Two Faced' and is working on a jet powered two wheeler for a land speed record assault.
