HUNDREDS of Bury shoppers vowed to do their bit to stamp out cruelty to children.
Nearly 400 people queued up in the Mill Gate Centre last weekend (Sat, March 31) to sign a pledge to support the NSPCC's Full Stop Campaign.
The local event was part of a national Call to Action Weekend and follows a doordrop aimed at every household, outlining the campaign and including a pledge form.
The campaign encourages everyone to take responsibility for children and the charity hopes to sign up over one million people to the pledge within a year.
The Bury site was manned by local volunteers and a spokesman said: "We had a good response and 395 people signed pledges. It went well and there were queues of people wanting to add their names.
"It was a great way of highlighting to people what we aim to do."
Locals can also show their support by buying a Full Stop badge and a pack with fund-raising ideas is available by phoning 0845 6000 266.
