BURY mum Sherry Nisbet, who is facing a tug-of-love custody battle on the other side of the world, has had a small victory in her on-going fight.
As reported in the Bury Times on April 13, a New Zealand court was set to decide the future of her two children, Tamasin (9) and seven-year-old Kane.
But following an appeal she has now been given an extra four weeks in which to prepare.
Sherry married Scott after a whirlwind romance ten years ago and emigrated to New Zealand where Scott now lives.
But 15 months ago she returned to her home in Chesham Road, Bury, when the stormy marriage broke down.
Sherry, who is terrified of losing her children, is campaigning to raise the money for the family's £1,200 air fare but feared she would not have enough cash in time for the April hearing.
"I am so scared of losing my children. I have been rushing to find the money to pay for the air fare and not had enough time to prepare. But my lawyer put in the appeal and luckily the judge has given us extra time," said Sherry.
A charity concert at the weekend raised £400 and a table-top sale at St John's CE School, Bury, the school Tamasin and Kane attend, raised another £100.
The hearing is due to take place next month.
