A BURY Citizens Advice Bureau organiser has made an appeal for volunteers to staff premises throughout the borough.
As reported in the Bury Times last week, Citizens Advice Bureaux in Bury, Bolton, Oldham and Rochdale have received £9,000 from the Lloyds TSB Foundations, one of the country's largest grant-making trusts.
The cash will boost a CAB volunteer recruitment campaign.
To this end Mrs Penny Blight, recruitment and training manager for Bury and district CAB, urged local people with free time on their hands to volunteer for the service.
She said: "The recruitment drive will be combined across the four districts. Only one telephone number will be advertised. We believe a blanket campaign will bring the most responses."
People interested can contact the CAB volunteer hotline 24 hours a day. An answering machine is available out-of-hours for people wishing to leave messages.
Penny added: "Each caller will receive a recruitment pack and information on their local CAB. Recruitment and pre-training sessions will then be held.
"Ideally we want these to start at the beginning of June to coincide with Volunteer Week.
"We are desperate for volunteers."
Anyone interested can telephone Penny on (0161) 763 6229.
