THE parents of a young boy who was hit by a car as he returned home from school have expressed their gratitude for the caring actions of his friends and passers by who looked after him until the ambulance arrived.
Scott Kilshaw, aged 11, from Cambridge Road, was walking down Dentons Green Lane with some friends when one lost his footing and stumbled into the back of Scott. The Cowley High pupil was unable to steady himself and fell onto the road into the path of an oncoming car.
Mum, Sandra told the Star: "We are still a bit sketchy about what happened but witnesses say he was hit by the car's headlights and bumper and his face and leg were bruised and badly swollen. The main danger was with a possible head injury and he was kept in Whiston Hospital for four days before doctors decided it was safe for him to come home again."
Scott, who has six other brothers and sisters, is now recuperating at home and Sandra added: "He has been very lucky as the accident could have been a lot worse but I would like to say a big thank you to the lady who put her coat over Scott and phoned for an ambulance, another lady who drove me to the scene of the accident, police and ambulance services and all the doctors and nurses in E1 ward where he was, and his teachers and friends who visited and sent get well messages and presents. It is nice to know there are so many people out there who care."
