RESIDENTS affected by three separate rooftop incidents in the Daneshouse area of Burnley are being offered help and advice by several agencies.
Damage estimated at tens of thousands of pounds was caused in two incidents in Ardwick Street and Travis Street when tiles, slates and chimney pots were thrown into the street.
Cars were also damaged and a JCB was needed to clear up the debris.
A third less serious incident occurred in Ardwick Street on Wednesday night. Housing chairman Coun Rafique Malik said: "Acting as council leader at the time I contacted the chief executive, Roger Ellis, and we called a meeting of various agencies at the town hall.
"I had been contacted by two or three people who were worried about damage done to their properties and the Citizens' Advice Bureau had also been contacted by people seeking help." As a result of the meeting, letters have been delivered to those affected advising them which advice agencies they should contact and what help is available to them." On Tuesday, between 2pm and 3pm, representatives of the agencies will be available at the Jinnah Centre in Abel Street to give further help and advice.
Coun Malik said the DSS had also been made aware of the problem and those who might be needing emergency loans or other assistance.
Coun Malik said: "One or two houses have been badly damaged and landlords or owners are taking the necessary steps.
"We are concerned about those who may be on income support and who don't have the necessary funds to carry out emergency repairs.
"Even if they are insured they may need immediate cash to pay the tradesmen.''
Three teenagers, two boys and a girl, have been arrested and charged in connection with the separate incidents.
