Oxford Utd 0 Bury 1
NOT only did First Division Bury gain their first away win of the season, they also brought to an end an embarrassing run of 20 games without a victory.
And they also recorded their first-ever win at the Manor Ground in achieving the double over Oxford United.
Derek Lilley made the most of a defensive error to put the Shakers in front after half an hour, but thereafter the Bury goal came under immense pressure, with Nicky Banger twice hitting the bar and Dean West clearing an effort from the line.
The Shakers cause was not helped by the loss of defenders Chris Swailes and Steve Redmond but Bury held out valiantly to come home clutching a precious three points which will be absolutely vital in their fight against relegation.
