Lancashire Lynx 24 Leigh 44
LYNX went down to yet another defeat against local rivals Leigh in a high scoring encounter at Victory Park.
With 15 minutes to go Lynx were trailing by only four points and looked the more likely side to come away with a victory but three late tries ensured that Leigh ran out comfortable winners.
After the game, coach Steve Hampson had mixed feelings about the Lynx performance. He said: "With new signing Andy Bennett in the side we had more organisation as an attacking force and always looked like we could score tries. Unfortunately, the same could not be said about the defence which was lacking out wide on the left hand side and four of their tries came from that area."
On the injury front he said: "Ian Gildart and Jason O'Loughlin both picked up knocks but should be fit for the visit to Keighley in two weeks time, of the others only Neil Flanagan will be fit to return."
Leigh showed why they are challenging at the top of the league with great ability in keeping the ball alive and scored three tries in the last 15 minutes from Scott Hilton, Jamie Kennedy and Anthony Murray.
