EAST Lancashire actor Malcolm Hebden stars in a new production at the Octagon Theatre, Bolton.
Malcolm, raised in Burnley, has a leading role in 'Martha, Josie and the Chinese Elvis,' which opens at the Octagon on Thursday.
Written by Octagon writer-in-residence Charlotte Jones, winner of the 1998 Pearson Television Best Playwright Award, the play is a tale of love for the over-50s. Malcolm's character, Lionel Trills, is a man who wants a full head of hair and a wife - in that order!
Malcolm was born in Chester but moved to Burnley with his family when he was three. He attended Burnley Grammar School and worked at John Collier's tailors and at J H Hesketh and Son in St James Street.
He has appeared at theatres around the country and in more than 100 radio plays. He has also had roles in many television series, including Coronation Street, where he played Derek Wilton's friend Norris Cole.
'Martha, Josie and the Chinese Elvis' runs until May 8. Ticket information from 01204 520661.
