SUNDAY saw the semi-finals of the Blue and White Rosebowl Cup and both matches turned out to be very close encounters.
Kings Inn met Bee Hive, whose keeper Mick Dwyer made a string of excellent saves to keep them in the tie. However, he was beaten 10 minutes from time when a Neil Cook goal gave King's Inn a final place.
They will have to wait to see who their opponents will be as Darwen Alexandra and Station will have to meet again following a 1-1 draw. Paul Curley had given Station the lead, but Denny Khan equalised to take the tie into extra time but neither side could find a winner.
White Bull will be relegated from Division One following their defeat by Old Toll Bar whose goals came from Lee Usbourne, Gordon Moore and Craig Foulds. White Bull's Jan Haubrich was taken to hospital after suffering breathing difficulties. Servicemaster still lead Division Two and need only one more point to be crowned champions. Brian Darbyshire, Steve Mullen and Roy Connell got their goals against Aqueduct whose reply came from Stuart Calvert. Dexter Paints, who are the only club that can catch Servicemaster, continued the fight with a four-goal win over Stanley Arms. Their goals came from Stuart Hopkinson (two), Terry Wilson and Lee Casey.
Lammack's promotion challenge faltered as they were held to a draw by West End. Phil Southworth and Brian Thompson scored for West End with Roger Fox and Anthony Reader replying for Lammack. Witton Inn had another win, defeating the luckless Darwen St Peter's with goals score by Nick Wissett, Mick Ingham and Shaun Smith.
The Third Division promotion battle is any two from six with Swan probably favourites to go up as champions despite being held to a draw by third-placed Malt & Hops who twice held the lead with strikes by Adam Whittle and Graham Gornall. Gary Foulds and Howard Clarke replied for Swan. Uncle Jack's dropped two points against Marriotts Accountants who themselves are not out of the promotion race. The game ended goalless. Walmsley got back to winning ways and move up to fourth place with an odd-goal-in-seven win over Fox & Hounds. Shaun Ryan scored a hat-trick for Walmsley whose other goal came from Gary Walsh.
The Hounds replies came from Steve Berry and Chris Hargreaves. A solitary goal from King Edward's Steve Almond was sufficient to beat James Street, who were in action again against Sign & Poster, this time going down 4-1. Sign & Poster are putting a run together with three consecutive wins after being at the foot of the table nearly all season. Their goals came from a Jason Brown hat-trick and Mick Sanderson, with Lee Moragues on target for James Street. Sign & Poster had previous beaten Stanley Racing with Jason Brown scoring both goals.
