A RESPECTED Accrington artist is featured in the latest exhibition of paintings at the town's Haworth Art Gallery and another East Lancashire artist has walked away with a £1,000 cash prize after scooping a top award at an annual exhibition.
The Accrington artist is Anthony Taylor, an art teacher who specialises in landscape and figure painting. His work is at the gallery this month.
Alongside Mr Taylor's 'Moonlightwalksam and Other Travels' exhibition are paintings by Pablo Picasso and ceramic work by Cardiff-based Mikaela Bartlett.
The gallery's latest display was opened by curator of Bury Art Gallery, Richard Burns, and Hyndburn's Mayor, Councillor Ian Ormerod.
Sarah Robinson, of Co-operative Street, Helmshore, won the £1,000 Leech Award for her print 'Green Cross - Red Cross' in the 140th annual open exhibition organised by the Manchester Academy of Fine Arts.
It was among 290 works in the show which runs at the Bury Art Gallery and Museum in Moss Street until May 8. Other local artists exhibiting work include James Taylor and Neil Hodgson from Burnley and Michael Kelly from Accrington. Tom Sisson, of Milton Street, Oswaldtwistle, won the Daler-Rowney Award for his images of Blackburn Cathedral.
The museum is open Tuesday to Saturday between 10am and 5pm.
