A COUPLE brutally killed in their jeweller's shop have been laid to rest.
Mohammed "Tony" Karim, 52, and his wife Bilquis, 48, were buried at Pleasington Cemetery, Blackburn, three weeks after they were found dead at their shop, Tony's Jewellers in Church Street, Preston.
More than 250 people turned up to pay their respects to the popular couple, of Whalley Old Road, Little Harwood, Blackburn. Mourners' cars crammed into the roads close to the burial site. Two hearses carried Mr and Mrs Karim's bodies to the cemetery, where a large crowd had gathered.
The coffins, covered in elaborately-decorated green and gold fabric, were taken from the hearses and laid on stands. Mourners gathered round and prayers were said. The coffins were then carried to the burial plots, which lie side by side.
Among the floral tributes laid out at the cemetery was one from Lancashire Constabulary.
Christopher Gavin, 18, of Dorman Road, Preston, and a 16-year-old boy have each been charged with double murder.
