A VERY young Rovers team picked up a well-deserved point in their Pontin's League Premier Division game at Goodison.
"I was babysitting last night," laughed reserve team coach Terry Darracott, who was proud of the performance from a side in which Tim Flowers was the only player with any experience.
"That could be the youngest team yet but they took a lot of credit from the game, after coming under pressure in the first half. They stood up to it well and gradually got on top."
Flowers used all his experience to help the youngsters in front of him and they responded, none better than Lee Hardy who was making his reserve team debut on the left side of midfield. "He's still a first year but had a smashing debut and created chances with a number of crosses," added Darracott.
If anything, Rovers arguably had the better openings, including one for another debutant, sub Marc Richards, who went on for the last five minutes and might have snatched a winner.
ROVERS: Flowers, Richardson, Howson, Brown, Murphy, McAvoy, Scates, Fitzpatrick, Hardy, Burgess, Hamilton (sub Richards 85 mins). Subs not used: R Dunning, Douglas, D Dunning, Bingham.
