THERE was only one fixture in A Division this week, but it signified the first dropped points for Hotshots.
Proceedings started as expected with Steven Riddiough and Matthew Hamer both winning their opening games against the Unbeatables.
However, Demha Ahmed was in outstanding form as he became the first person to defeat Matthew this season. Steven got Hotshots back on track with a comfortable win over Simon McNamara to ensure victory.
The doubles went right to the wire with Demha and Simon combining magnificently to win in the fifth game 11-7. This made the final score 3-2 to Hotshots but Unbeatables still moved up to second in the table. Steven is now outright leader of the merit table.
In B Division the A team reversed the scoreline of their previous encounter against Prop Ups largely thanks to the absence of Liam Brown. Andrew Evans narrowly retained his unbeaten record by defeating Ben Tattersall 13-11 in the fifth game. Ben gained his side a point by becoming only the second player to beat Adrian Bond this season. The A team won the match 4-1 and are now two points clear at the top of the table with a game in hand.
CSB remain in second place after completing the double over Smash and Thrash. Rikki Whittaker gained S&T their only point by beating Danny Wood. He was also unlucky to narrowly lose to Ben Caulfield 4-11 in the fifth game. CSB took the remaining points to win 4-1 and extend the gap between them and third place to four points. However, Prop Ups do have a game in hand. Caulfield remains third in the merit table. All Stairs gained ony their second victory of the current campaign, both of which they have obtained since the acquisition of tremendous new prospect Robert Woodhead.
Robert won both his games to be player of the match. Sam Foster pulled one back for Double H but Daniel Morris ensured the victory by beating Nick Hallsworth. Double H managed to win the doubles 11-9 in the fifth game, but All Stars triumphed overall, 3-2.
Ping & Pong avenged their earlier defeat by Tigers this season to gain ony their second win so far. Adam McCormack won both his matches to take the player of the match award. Partner, Kieran Brown also won one before assisting in taking the double. Matthew Lyons gained the only point for Tigers ending the match 4-1 to Ping & Pong.
