I WAS sorry to read of the struggle Peter Cunliffe had in obtaining a new fridge for £25 for his mother (Letters, April 7).
I was totally amazed at the service I received, when I applied for a fridge from the 'fridgesavers' scheme.
I picked a leaflet up from Blackburn Town Hall, which I filled in and sent freepost to Edinburgh.
Two days later, I got a reply that stated, due to demand, I might have to wait up to 12 weeks before delivery. The next day though, I received a phone call to arrange delivery for two days later.
Two men came, as arranged, and installed my fridge, after checking my DSS benefit and me handing over £25 cash. I did not need to defrost my old fridge and, as previously stated, the old one was taken away and all the packaging from the new one removed.
So Mr Cunliffe, don't give up because within a fortnight, I received my fridge and was very pleased with the service. It is excellent and, hopefully, will save me some £30 a year on my bill.
