PARENTS who learnt more about how their children are taught were awarded certificates at Blackburn College.
Mark Paterson, director of education and training at Blackburn with Darwen Council, presented the certificates to more than 100 parents at a ceremony attended by the chairman of education and training, Councillor Bill Taylor.
The pilot Parents as Educators scheme began in December in 17 primary schools as part of the Education Action Zone campaign to raise standards.
Parents learnt more about their children's schools on the Open College course and were taught how to support their sons' and daughters' education.
Blackburn College principal Sheena Ewing said: "The scheme has been very successful and it will now be extended to other areas outside the action zone."
