IT'S going to be trial by video for North End skipper Sean Gregan as the club try to clear him of his fourth suspension this season.
Manager David Moyes was due to defend his player's corner at an FA disciplinary hearing in Manchester today (Thursday).
Moyes is hoping the FA will look at video footage of the Colchester incident on Good Friday which earned hardman Gregan his 11th yellow card of the season.
If the booking stands, Gregan will miss Saturday's showdown with arch rival Blackpool.
Moyes described the booking as scandalous. He said: "I'm hoping the FA will allow me to introduce video evidence to back up our appeal.
"We are certainly going to fight hard to make sure Sean isn't hit with another ban.
"I can't believe the referee booked him for that."
It isn't the first time this season PNE have fought a ban on behalf of Gregan. Earlier this year PNE disputed his red card at Chesterfield. Their appeal was unsuccessful.
Even if this appeal is unsuccessful, Moyes is optimistic Gregan might escape with a fine instead. "Not everyone is getting banned. We are keeping our fingers crossed."
Gregan took a knock during Tuesday's match at Wigan but should be fit to play.
Either way, Moyes is certain of one thing. He said: "We must win this game on Saturday and that is all we are thinking about now."
