LEIGH RU, with six enforced changes, just failed to hold Netherall.
Ross Fletcher's early try kept them in the picture; then he intercepted on his own line to hand a TD to the supporting David Bullough with Chris Lee adding the goal.
But Leigh kept handing the points to the visitors with persistent penalties and defensive errors, giving them a healthy interval lead.
Netherall then shut up shop, allowing Leigh just one second half penalty from Chris Lee, taking the final score to 24-15.
Stephen Lee in the backs, Chris Travers and Barry Gilman never gave up the uphill struggle.
Minis & Juniors: U12s drew 14-14 with Orrell (Pirrie and Glover; MoMs Gwilliam and Hilton); U10s beat Ormskirk 60-0 (Forshaw 3, Trumble 3, Taylor 2, Harrison, Adams).
