ON a blustery day on an immaculate pitch at BAe Samlesbury, Bolton's performance was somewhat blustery while PNE's was immaculate. (Preston Girls U14s 6 Bolton 0)

Against the wind the home side fought hard to keep the score even at 0-0 and there were very few chances with the North End keeper Charlie Walmsley dealing with both the weather and the Bolton forwards.

The second half was all one-way traffic. Walker opened the scoring to put PNE on their way.

Substitute Leyna Tommoney scored a hat-trick and Gemma Turner scored two to complete the rout. This well-deserved win keeps the girls in the top three.

Their next game is the last one of the season - the big Derby clash with Blackpool. The girls are looking forward to finishing the season in style!

PNE Girls U16s 5 WIGAN 0

PNE moved into third place in the table after this comfortable win against potentially tricky opposition.

PNE took the lead after 10 minutes when Katie Anderton latched onto a through ball to lob the keeper from 18 yards.

The home side, with the wind at their backs, were in complete control and further goals from Katie Eastwood, Gemma Turner and Jo Ball meant they went into half time 4-0 in front.

In the second half Wigan failed to use the wind as effectively as the whites, and when they did threaten, Nat Brewer and Alison Taberner thwarted their attempts.

With 15 minutes left PNE put the game well and truly out of Wigan's reach when Jo Ball scored her second of the match to make the score 5-0.

Kate Anderton, returning from international duty with England, was in fine form in midfield and received the "girl of the match" award.
