THE mystery is finally solved! A cluster of customers - including John Bradbury and Tom Picton - identified the impressive building, forming the backdrop to my flashback picture (April 1) featuring a bygone St Helens trolley bus alongside an early motor bus.
In reply to an earlier plea for location details, they together chorus that this was the town-centre Helena House of fond memory.
That irreplacable Co-op Society edifice, build to the finest Victorian tradition, bit the dust about a decade ago and it now forms part of the site occupied by the new Wilkinsons store.
