AN old shoe-maker in Cyprus has come to the rescue of a foot-weary young Preston schoolgirl.
Eleven-year-old Rebecca Shore-Robinson has an astonishing size 11 feet.
And while her pals were parading round in fashionable platforms, all she could find to fit were clumsy, and expensive, pairs.
Several shoe shops told her: If you want fashion shoes, you will have to pay a staggering £500 for them.
Rebecca, of Hawthorne Crescent, Lea, appealed to Citizen readers for help in finding a cheaper pair.
Our cricket correspondent, John Richardson, was quick to come to her rescue. He knew a shoe-maker friend in Cyprus and as quickly as Rebecca could cut out a picture of what she wanted from a catalogue, the shoes were her's, at a cost of just £50. Rebecca said: "My friends like them, the are just like theirs."
