LOCAL election candidate John Sumner aims to play Indy music on May 6!
That's the day John, 41, of Platt Street, Leigh is standing in Leigh East as an Independent.
The ex-Leigh Grammar School pupil and Parsonage Pit electrician said: "People say 'you'll never get Labour out of Leigh', that's because there's never been a real alternative - until now.
"Being independent I'm not tied to the constraints of the big brother parties and will be answerable only to the people of Leigh.
"At the moment I feel Leigh is becoming a big car park with the occasional second hand shop thrown in."
He and his wife, Carol, have a son, Jack, 3, and a month old baby, Molly. John and Carol founded the Leigh Cystic Fibrosis Group after young Jack was diagnosed with the condition.
The other candidates in Leigh East are Keith Cunliffe (Lab), Derek Davies (Con) and Neil Howarth (Green).
