BY now you will no doubt be aware of the Disasters Emergency Committee Kosovo Appeal. Oxfam is one of 12 agencies taking part in this appeal and we are asking for help in fundraising to provide essential relief items such as water and sanitation facilities.
Oxfam is working with UNHCR and the Albanian government to provide clean water and sanitation facilities for hundreds of thousands of refugees. Dirty water is a major cause of disease and the provision of clean water is vital to safeguarding people's health.
In addition to specialised water tanks, Oxfam are also providing sealable plastic buckets, plastic sheeting and tents.
The public response to this appeal has been very generous. To date, over £125,000 has already been received and donations continue to arrive, but more funds are desperately needed if the humanitarian aid effort is to be maintained.
You can support the appeal by making a credit card donation to the DEC Appeal on 0870 60 60 900 or by sending cheques or postal orders, payable to Oxfam/DEC Kosovo Appeal at c/o Oxfam Campaigns Office, 6th Floor, Graeme House, WIlbraham Road, Chorlton, Manchester M21 9AS.
