THE horrors of the war in the Balkans are brought home to us several times a day. But right in the middle of the conflict Jelena Pasic, a citizen of Belgrade and a Blackburn Rovers fan, is receiving comfort via the Internet from other Rovers fans.
It brings an air of of normality to this dreadful scene - war in Europe at the end of the 20th century.
Jelena is not fettered by the propaganda machines and hype used by both sides.
She tells it as it is.
While Yugoslav government officials put out hysterical stories about Belgrade being flattened and in flames Jelena tells us that it is all right to walk round the city during the day but advisable to find an air raid shelter at night.
There are thousands like her in the Balkans - innocent people who just want their normal lives back.
One man is denying them that normality, Slobodan Milosevic.
That is why this dreadful war must be ended as soon as possible.
