CONDEMNING your editorial which accused Blackburn with Darwen Council of burying its head in the sand over the future of its council houses, housing chairman Councillor Mohammed Khan and vice-chairman Councillor Dave Hollings (Letters, March 31), of course, claim that this is not true.
However, they take great pains to state that they are, in fact, quite prepared to reduce council housing stock where they see fit.
This is, of course, the result of blatant council neglect over decades of misjudgment over how their funds were to be spent. This has led to the sad situation of today, when their former mismanagement is now shown in its true light.
Millions of pounds in council tax have been thrown down the drain, sucked in to projects of failure by a Labour council light years removed from present needs.
Perhaps in future years both these councillors would care to consult with local opinion before embarking on money-down-the-drain lost causes.
However, given the attitude of this present Labour catastrophe, I doubt that they would even consider such a common-sense move.
