Lancaster 14 Welsh Wanderers 2 HAVING received a bye for the first round of the Amateur Swimming Association Knockout Trophy Lancaster were rewarded with a quarter final home tie against mid-table, second division side Welsh Wanderers.
On paper this match should have been a one sided affair. And so it proved in reality with Lancaster never having to stretch themselves while, to their credit, the opposition battled to the end without being able to make inroads against Lancaster's solid defence. Although Lancaster had Powell, Mountfield, Little and Detko missing from the line-up there was still too much experience and fire power in the side with Colin Burgess leading the scoring with seven goals.
