I AM writing in response to an article in the Journal on March 25, concerning the relocation of Chowbent Junior & Infant School to recreation ground just off Douglas Street.
Another local resident, Terry Taylor, described as spokesman, says objectors aren't against a new school and goes on to say that football teams play there and generations have enjoyed it.
In situation such as these I often find that compromise is the best solution. I understand some of the other residents' objections, but surely the need for a new school far outweighs the concerns for a reduction in recreational areas available to local residents.
A compromise here could be the provision of enhanced recreational facilities within the new school's boundaries.
As a father of two young children I must say that I am very much in favour of the new school on the proposed site.
Why not take this opportunity to not only provide a much needed new school but improve prove recreational facilities at the same time.
