Pilks ran out worthy winners in their penultimate game of the season against a plucky Oldham side.
Their handling skills were rewarded with tries for St Helens Roofing man of the match Stu Tickle, Mather, Peter Cook (2), Galvin, James Lacey and Smith, with Filson adding three goals. Others in form were Gary Mullen, Paul Edgerton and Ted Rawsthorne.
Leigh Miners under 13s 34 Pilks 14
Premier Division Leigh were too powerful for Pilks. But they gained encouragement through tries by J. Kavanney, G. Davies and J. Tunstall, plus a goal by A. Parr.
Players on form, in a match sponsored by Laney Tunes, were T. Hill, D. Leicester, J. Sheffield, K. Langley, G. Philbin and D. Toohey.
Salford Juniors under 13s 12 Pilks 12
A cracker of a match saw Salford draw level with an interception try in the dying seconds. Pilks' tries in a game against a team from a higher division came from J. Kavanney (2).
Pilks were well served by D. Toohey, A. Parr, T. Hill, G. Philbin, I. Langley and N. Moore, who kicked two goals.

A fine Recs effort produced tries for R. Burkhill (4), D. Mason (2), P. Robertson, J. Smith and R. Griffiths. R. Pilling added the extras.

A try late into injury time robbed Pilks of victory.
Their tries came from Danny Colquitt and James Campbell, with man of the match Ryan Rogers adding two goals. Chris Kay earned the coaches award and John Topping led the tackle count. Recs showed good handling skill against a spirited Oldham side. Their tries came from Martin Hutton, Karl Foster, Adam Harris, top tackler Dave Mason, Greg Smith, Simon Penketh and coaches award winner Danny Halsall. Both sides played some fine rugby in a bruising encounter. St Pats opened up a 12-point lead before Recs hit back. Just before the break St pats scored again.
The second half belonged to Recs, but they couldn't make the pressure count.
Tries came from Matthew Holding and Gareth Frodsham, who shared the man of the match award.
Sandy Lee and Tom Armstrong kicked a goal apiece.
Top tackler was Paul Knapper and Tony Dingsdale was unsung hero.

This was a fine Pumas effort against a strong Leigh outfit.
Tries were scored by Stuart Birch (2), top tackler Sam Clitheroe and man of the match Scott Pennington. The coaches award went to Paul Whittaker, while most improved was Jonathan Philbin. Awards were sponsored by Pro-Secure.
