Guiseley 1 Lancaster 0 CITY still aren't safe after this defeat and must win at home to Leigh RMI on Saturday.
Third bottom they're still seven points clear of relegation placed Chorley - still close enough to danger to worry.
What made it worse was the fact that this was an almost full strength City side after the recent injury crisis.
Paul Fleming, John Kennedy and Dean Martin were available again and Glen Johnstone returned to replace keeper Mark Thornley.
City had an almost gale force wind to their backs in the first half but it was Guiseley who took the lead. Steve Hartley failed to clear and Guiseley striker Stewart Airdrie tackled him and scored.
What made it even more galling was that Lancaster had their chances before the goal. Their best fell to Jay Flannery whose strong volley was miraculously saved by Steve Dickinson after just four minutes.
Flannery didn't return after half time and Dean Martin was forced to leave the field midway through the second period. With two of their most creative players off through injury City began to struggle to create chances against a well marshalled defence.
That said Graham Taylor was unlucky not to score when his shot skidded just wide at the death. Another plus point was the performance of Jamie Udall who has been outstanding in recent games.
Team: Johnstone, Fleming, Graham, Udall, Hartley, Gelling, Flannery (Sharrott 45), Trainor, Evans, Kennedy, Martin (Taylor 69).
