A POLICEMAN who was stabbed with a pair of scissors as he attempted to arrest an violent man has been commended for his bravery.
Constable Graham Farrer, 32, of Accrington will be presented with his award for extreme courage and fortitude by the Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police, Mr David Wilmot, on April, 20
It follows an investigation into an alleged blackmail attempt in the North Manchester area during which PC Farrer and a colleague were attacked by the offender who was later found guilty of blackmail and wounding and sentenced to eight years imprisonment.
A member of the public who stepped in to help was also praised for his actions.
