A GROUP for Asian mothers and toddlers in the Bury area is now up and running.
The group, which has been established for six months, is the first of its kind in the area, offering mothers and pre-school children from Asian families a chance to get together for social and educational purposes.
Guest speakers talking about a variety of subjects from fashion to mental health will also be attending the weekly meetings.
Miss Farzana Khan, health visitor and support worker, said: "The group allows mothers to meet and discuss a variety of topics from recipes to childcare. And as it is specifically for Asian mothers it helps them overcome the language barrier."
She added: "They find the education programme very useful and it shows them that there are services to help them."
The group meets on Mondays from 1pm to 3pm at the Mosses Centre at Cecil Street, Bury.
For further details about the programme of activities, ring Miss Khan on 764 5320.
