POLICE were still trying to solve the identity of a mystery girl two days after her body was washed up with a panic alarm clipped to her belt on Rossall beach.
The fully-clothed young Asian woman, aged 18 to 22, was found on the shore opposite Rossall School by a dog-walker on Monday (April 12) about 4pm.
A post-mortem revealed she had died of drowning and police are saying there were no suspicious circumstances, but by yesterday (April 14) she was still unnamed.
The search has spread from local media to the London-based Asian newspaper Eastern Eye and Manchester's Asian Sound.
Hospitals, colleges, businesses and hotels are being asked if they are missing anyone and an artist's impression is being produced for the Internet.
A police spokesman said: "This is obviously very tragic. We don't know how long she'd been in the water and at present we have no clues as to whether she was from this area or not." The girl was 5ft 3in tall, of Indian or Pakistani appearance, slim with black wavy hair and had an operation scar on her left side indicating lung surgery. She wore a pair of distinctive silver drop earrings, nearly two inches long with a black stone inset, as well as a blue Suchita-1 roll-neck jumper, size 12 black jeans, a black Sports-brand panic alarm fixed with a belt-clip and size four black leather Polyflex shoes.
Underneath, she wore knee-length leggings by Threads Clothing and a navy-blue T-shirt. On her wrist was a silver Zeon quartz watch with black roman numerals on a white face.
