YOUR favourite newspaper has been making the headlines itself - by winning another award!
The Lancashire Evening Telegraph finished runner up in the prestigious Daily Newspaper of the Year section of the BT North West of England Press and Broadcast Awards.
Peter Butterfield, editor of the Evening Telegraph, received the award at a presentation lunch at the Reebok Stadium, Bolton, yesterday.
The Evening Telegraph - part of Newsquest Media - beat off competition from evening papers in Carlisle, Barrow, Blackpool, Preston, Liverpool, Oldham, Bolton and Wigan. Overall winner was the Manchester Evening News.
The judges said: "The Lancashire Evening Telegraph has benefited enormously from its redesign.
"Driving out the black and forcing in more white on the page has allowed the stories to breathe more easily.
"This is a clean, crisp newspaper with a high news blood count."
The Evening Telegraph's sister paper in Kendal, the Westmorland Gazette, won the weekly newspaper of the year award.
