THIRTY people were evacuated from a ward at Rossendale Hospital after a toaster overheated at lunchtime yesterday.
Firefighters from Rawtenstall were called to ward seven where the fire had started in a toaster in a small kitchen area off the ward. They used a high pressure ventilation fan to remove the smoke and the kitchen was slightly heat damaged, as was the toaster.
