THE annual Witton Park "Walk in the Woods" event has a millennium theme this year.
Millennium trees, our past and our future will be the theme at the one hour stroll through the scenic woods and arboretum.
Senior Warden Peter Coultherd will lead the walk which begins at 2pm on Sunday, May 2, from the park visitor centre.
Esso are sponsoring the event which is being billed by Blackburn with Darwen Council's countryside services department as a chance to appreciate trees from the oldest oaks to the youngest newly planted saplings.
Bronwen Earnshaw, Blackburn with Darwen Council's parks development officer said: "All ages are welcome on the tour, whether you are a tree expert, interested in finding out more, or simply wanting a pleasant Sunday afternoon walk.
"Last year's walk was a great success and I'm sure people will enjoy this spring stroll through the carpets of bluebells just as much."
The annual event was founded and organised by the Tree Council which is encouraging people to get out in the fresh air and enjoy their local woods and this year to help celebrate its silver jubilee.
