YOUNGSTERS at a Pendle primary school are hoping to see in the new millennium on a high note by taking part in a nationwide competition to compose a song for the occasion.
Pupils at Kelbrook School are busy putting together the words and music for the Voices of Promise project which involves children aged between seven and 16.
The scheme is part of the Millennium Experience National Programme and is back by Marks and Spencer.
If their song proves to be "top of the pops" with judges the youngsters may get the chance to perform it in a regional event and in the Millennium Dome.
Winning entries will also feature on a CD.
Organisers said the aim was for children to compose a song that will inspire other youngsters to look forward to a future of hope and promise.
Successful entries will go on to the next stage when a musician will visit the school to develop the composition further.
