NEW band Indian Runner, who play in Preston tonight, say they have a sound which is impossible to categorise.
The group, including Blackburn College student Anna Ashworth, have gigs lined up at North West venues and are set to record a single next month.
They play The Unicorn in North Road, Preston, tonight and their music draws on indie and folk influences.
Drummer Anna, from Whittingham, near Longridge, is studying art at Blackburn College, while singer/guitarist Mike Kneasey and keyboard player Maria Ingham are from Bolton. Anna may put her art education on hold next year to work with the band instead of going straight off to university.
They are often joined by accordion and penny whistle player Danny Cameron. The band recently lost their bass player but are replacing him with a synthesiser for the time being. They play the Night and Day Cafe, Manchester, next Saturday and The Witchwood, Ashton-under-Lyne, on April 27.
