A TEENAGER fell more than 30 feet through the asbestos roof of a derelict factory in Darwen after he climbed up to retrieve a ball. Christopher Jones, 14, of Greenway Street, Darwen, was rescued by firefighters and paramedics from the former Weltonhurst Plastics factory in Blackburn Road shortly before 7pm yesterday.
He told paramedics he was on the roof looking for his football when it collapsed.
A spokesman for Lancashire Ambulance Service said: "He must have fallen at least 30 feet through the roof after the asbestos structure gave way beneath him."
Christopher is being treated for a broken hip and wrist.
