AS representatives of two parent groups from the Lammack, Pleckgate and Shear Brow areas of Blackburn, whose children attend Year 6 of Lammack County Primary School and St James' CE School, we are appalled at how our children are being treated regarding the allocation of school places by Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council.
An example of this attitude is shown in the response by the education department (LET, March 31). We would like to invite other parents in the same situation, where their children have not been allocated their first preference choice of high school, to contact us, as we feel Blackburn with Darwen Council does not respect the right of parental choice.
All we are aiming for is the right to maintain parental choice and, hopefully, prevent in future years the farce which is taking place this year and which is having a devastating effect on both children and parents alike.
