A BLACKBURN builder has been accused in Manchester of being involved in smuggling drugs worth up to £15m from France earlier this month.

Andrew Donnelly, 32, of Henry Whalley Street, who was arrested last week, had an application for bail refused by the city's magistrates and is in custody until Friday.

Four other men have already been charged with importing drugs. They were arrested on Good Friday at a cement yard in Newark, Nottinghamshire, after customs men seized a lorry containing 350 kilos of amphetamine and bush cannabis alleged to have been destined for the North West.

Father-of-two Donnelly made no plea to the charge.
