ISN'T it ironic that Mr N Heatlie Jackson (Letters, April 6) who accuses me of not getting my facts right about the Motability scheme, providing cars for the disabled, distorts the true facts. A lot of these people are very naive.

Fact 1: If the car is leased, it can be bought at the end of the three year period. During this time all the lessee has to do is feed it with petrol as road tax, insurance, servicing etc, are provided for them.

Fact 2: Whichever way they choose - buy or lease - the money comes from taxpayers.

All these "handouts" - dole, Motability, single parents' benefits, income support, etc, come from us taxpayers.

So I reiterate: these Motability cars are free to the people who are using them.

I have written to my Euro MP to ask why the over 65s, who have paid more into the system all their working lives (more than the younger ones), are discriminated against. Why can't we have a share of the freebies?
