SOCCER: Borrowdale United captured top spot in the Barden Community Association Seven-A-Side Summer League and kept their 100 per cent record intact with a 4-0 win over a battling Kestrels side.

Chris Roger, Gavin Lynch, Matt Swallow and Chris Greenwood scored he goals.

Oaks Utd were held to a 1-1 draw against an impressive One Step Beyond who scored through Danny Gildert and held out until Oaks Utd grabbed a last-gasp equaliser from Michael Yabantu. Pendle Forest stayed in third place, ahead of the pack with a 1-0 win against a very much improved Adpack Aces side with goalkeeper Craig Blacklaw in excellent form Only Gareth Bann could find a way past him. Jetsun Sunbeds played more like they did last season with a dominating performance against G&G Plumbing, winning 4-1. Dave Clarkin scored a cracker with Gary Moore, Craig Large and man of the match Mark Barnes joining him on the scoresheet. Only Tom Fallows showed up for G&G and also scored his obligatory goal.

Barrie Thompson scored in the first few seconds for Marsden Cross from the halfway line. But his team couldn't hold on and lost 5-2 to a very good P&M Motors performance. Joe Scanlon (two), Andy Jackson, Anthony Pickup and Martin Lockyer scored for P&M with Daniel Whittaker scoring the other goal for Marsden.
