A BRAVE policeman, who was stabbed while arresting a violent blackmailer, has received the Chief Constable's Commendation.
Acting Sgt David Sinclair, 28, from Leigh, and Pc Graham Farrer, were both stabbed by the man who later received eight years imprisonment for blackmail and wounding.
The Manchester based officers were investigating an alleged blackmail attempt in the city. When they tried to detain a man he stabbed them several times with a pair of scissors.
An onlooker went to assist and wrestled the scissors from the attacker who was detained by Acting Sgt Sinclair and Pc Farrer and colleagues.
When the case came to court the Judge commended the police duo and the man who disarmed the attacker.
On Tuesday, at GMP's Sedgley Park training school, Acting Sgt Sinclair, Constable Farrer and the man who helped them, were commended by Chief Constable Mr David Wilmot for their "extreme courage and fortitude in detaining a violent man".
