THE Anglican Diocese of Blackburn and the Lancashire Council of Mosques jointly condemn the current policy of genocide and ethnic cleansing in Kosovo.

We are appalled at the destruction of a people's religion, culture and identity through forcible removal from their homeland.

We believe that it is essential to keep the Kosovan people as near to their homeland as possible so that they will be able to return in the future.

If it is necessary for some Kosovars to come to Britain we wish to welcome and support them during their stay.

We ask the Christians and Muslims in Lancashire to be generous in prayer and humanitarian aid to the people of Kosovo during this terrible crisis.

THE RIGHT REV ALAN CHESTERS (Bishop of Blackburn) and MOULANA AHMED SIDAT (Chairman, Lancashire Council of Mosques).
